OPG Podrug

In the small village of Piramatovci, about ten kilometers from Skradin and the Krka River waterfalls, lies the home of the Podrug family – guardians of an olive-growing heritage passed down through generations. In this region, where nearly every tourist stops to admire the natural beauty of Krka National Park, the olive tree holds a special place, not just in the landscape, but in family stories as well. The family elders recall stories of their oil dating back to 1886, and their groves are still home to trees over 200 years old.

For the Podrug Family Farm, olive growing wasn't just a decision, but a calling – a tribute to their ancestors who lived off the land, livestock, and vineyards, building their lives with blood and sweat. After the Croatian War of Independence, the family decided to take a serious step into the world of olive cultivation, planting nearly 1,800 trees and dedicating themselves completely to producing premium olive oil. The entire family participates in this work, with great dedication, perseverance, and a strong sense of unity.

With the necessary training and continuous improvement, the Podrug Family Farm now embraces modern technology and machinery, but never forgets its roots. For six years now, they have been cultivating their olives under an organic regimen, respecting the rhythm of nature and the unique microclimate of their location. Their limited geographical area may prevent them from being the largest producers, but it also defines them as creators of excellent quality – a fact confirmed by numerous national and international awards, which have ranked their oils highly at prestigious global events.

Competition in this region is strong, but the Podrug family sees it not as a challenge, but as an incentive. This healthy competition motivates them to improve every day – from agrotechnology and harvesting to the careful storage of their oil. Slowly but surely, they are winning over both domestic and foreign markets, confident that the younger generations will carry on the tradition.
