A return to tradition through organic wines from the Vrbnik plateau.
On the magnificent plateau above the village of Vrbnik, in the hinterland of Knin, lies the Burnum Winery - a project with a soul, born from a desire to bring life back to once-vibrant homesteads and to make the rocky soil green again with grapevines. The driving force behind this story is the Agricultural Cooperative Vrbničko selo, founded in 2014, when the first vines were planted in the dry yet fertile soil on the northern side of Mount Promina.
From the very beginning, the goal was clear: to encourage people to return and to create “good” wine. Today, after more than ten years of dedicated work, the Vrbničko selo Agricultural Cooperative proudly cultivates 6 hectares of organic vineyards and an additional 8 hectares of almond groves. Alongside the winery, seven guest rooms with a total of 13 beds have been built – a place where wine is not just tasted, but experienced.
The Burnum Winery produces premium red, white, and rosé cuvée wines, as well as sparkling wine. There, under the sun - their greatest natural asset - and in a land that demands respect, 30,000 grapevines are nurtured. They produce between 22,000 and 25,000 bottles of wine annually, with distribution currently handled mainly through private customers, restaurants, and hotels.
Although their distance from the sea and lower tourist traffic can sometimes make sales challenging, the team at Burnum Winery perseveres. Every year, they invest extra effort to make their wines even better, believing that quality always finds its way.
