A variety of dairy products from the heart of the Dalmatian hinterland, made with love.
Marin and Jelena Franjić from Gradac, in the municipality of Ružić, decided to trade city life for life in the countryside. It all began with a cow they received as a gift, and today their family farm has 25 dairy cows, 30 milking goats, 50 Lacaune sheep, and 25 jennies used for milking. OPG Franjić is one of the most diverse farms in Šibenik-Knin County, with registered production of cow's, goat's, sheep's, and donkey's milk.
They particularly stand out for introducing the Jersey breed – a British cattle known for its top-quality milk with high fat and protein content. Thanks to this quality, they produce a wide range of dairy products: fresh cheeses, yogurts, mozzarella, fruit yogurts, and the traditional 'sir iz mišine' (cheese in a lambskin), of which they are especially proud.
They also receive support through county subsidies, and investments in modern, eco-friendly equipment, such as a pasteurizer and a milk cooler, allow them to continue growing and ensure quality.
They have no shortage of ambition – they want to build their own dairy with a tasting room and continue to develop their story with the help of European funds. Through their daily work, Marin and Jelena not only create top-quality products but also contribute to the preservation of the Croatian countryside and its native breeds.
